in D&D its about alignment and a little of that has carried over to how I do it but I don't give a shit about the blood war or whatever other lore reasons WotC uses to differentiate the two. Here's the difference as far as I am concerned: Devils look like people, and try to tempt you into doing evil. Demons look like literally anything, including people, and want to kill you. I don't really see why there's need for any more differentiation that that.
