OSR Combat

If combat is the failure state, then why is so much of the book dedicated to making it engaging and fun?

The Dragon Slayer (REDSHIFT Lore)

The Dragon Slayer The Empress of the Sol Star Empire is decorated war hero Grand Admiral [Retired] Rebekah Louse DanClaude. She carries multiple epithets including The Champion of Clarion, The Hero of the Abados Sector, The Dominion of Damocles, and The Dragon Slayer. In the year 2994 the, at the time, Captain DanClaude earned the epithet Dragon Slayer in the one-and-only decisive victory the SSE won during the war of the Abados Sector. This final battle of the war was in orbit of a refueling planet in a strategically important spacelane. She did battle with a fleet of Star Dragon Enclave strike cruisers and a single capitol ship; the Voidwing. She had lost most of her escort fleet, and had positioned her capital ship as a shield to absorb the enemy fire while the rest of her men fired up their reshift drives for route. As she prayed that the shields of the living space fortress Damocles would hold, she struck upon an idea. Personally marching into the drone piloting bay, she locked he

Advice for folks writing modules

1, Note which supplements you are drawing content from in the introductory notes. 2. Mark which items/abilities/rules you are using that are not in core, preferably with which book they're from. 3. Include core-only recommendations, barring that at least reprint the statlines only of content found in hard to find or expensive books. 4. Include a statline roundup in the back of the module, proving a full character sheet for each NPC/Monster/Vehicle the party is likely to fight in the module.

So this happened in my discord (about FFIV)

I'm the weeb named スティーブマン Dragon Princess I have just been informed that final fantasy 4 is about an alien invasion plot can you pls explain this dens スティーブマン Whoo nelly. Okay. First off yes, it is completely true. Gimme a moment to type this out. Gardeslut oh deer Dragon Princess Omfg スティーブマン The world of FFIV is one that feels like a normal medieval fantasy world, with each "city" being the abstract of a continental culture. However, there is this giant magitek tower that just exists poking out of a crater in not!Japan; The Tower of Bab-il. Also, the solar system that FFIV takes place in is a mirror to our own, with the world being called The Blue Planet. There is also the Red Planet and the Giant; obviously Mars and Jupiter. These are all mentioned in the city of Agart which has a massive telescope in it that you can observe the moon. At one point it is explained that back before the coming of magic, the world had only one moon. The goal of the game is to stop a Dark

REDSHIFT Starships (lore)

STARSHIPS What is an interstellar roleplaying game without some way of dealing with space travel right? So here you go. First some lore about how space travel works in REDSHIFT, then the rules for space flight. After that are the rules for creating your startships, and finally rules for using them to fight. SPACE TRAVEL Within the universe of REDSHIFT there four kinds of space flight. These are Redshifting, Wormhole Teleportation, Anti-Inertial Bubbles, and Realspace Flight. The first three are differing kinds of faster than light travel, and the last is sub-light travel. Realspace travel is the mot straightforward form of space flight; it is using ion thrusters to propel the ship through space maxing out at speeds up to 50% the speed of light. This sort of flight is used exclusively within a system or when two ships meet in space. REDSHIFT DRIVE The discovery of the Dimensional Doppler Effect revolutionized faster than light travel allowing species who had yet to master lossless zero-
